Rita McIver


Ms. Rita is the Artistic Director of GDFAC, Inc. She has had over 20 years of training in many areas of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, pointe, hip hop, African dance, liturgical (praise dance), and musical theatre.  She trained for many years at the Dancer’s Workshop in Sanford, N.C., under the direction of Tori Melby and Betty Newell, and has also studied with many dance “greats” including, Shelia Barker, Frank Hatchett, Karen Hebert, Debbie Dee, Charles Kelly, and many more. Some of her achievements in dance include, Jr. Miss Dance N.C. (Dance Masters of America), Overall Talent Winner-Teen Miss N.C. (LMNC), Majestic Miss Sanford, Miss Superstar (national dance competition-top soloist award), and Miss Dance N.C.(Dance Masters of America). In addition to Ms. Rita’s impressive accomplishments, she has given her dynamic choreography to the GDFAC dance company, to many youth programs in the surrounding Baltimore Metropolitan Areas, and was an Assistant Director to the stage play production “The Teachers’ Lounge”. Ms. Rita is the proud mother of her two girls Egypt and Atirra who are dancers at GDFAC. She is passionate about her craft and her students and is certified and tested to teach by Dance Masters of America.
